Our Coffee Starts at Origin

Paradox coffees come from coffee-growing regions around the world.

Our sourcing programme includes coffees from Central America, Africa, Papua New Guinea and Brazil, with our green bean sourcing team responsible for selecting the coffees that ultimately become our blends, single origins and specialty releases.

An important part of that process is working with specialist green coffee importers who have established relationships with coffee producers.

Through those partnerships, we've built relationships with farms whose coffees we return to year after year.

It allows our team to think beyond what we need today and plan for what Paradox customers will be drinking months from now.

Why We Plan Our Coffee Months in Advance

Consistency doesn't happen by accident.

Our team forecasts green coffee requirements well ahead of time, with coffee purchasing planned about nine months ahead where possible.

Why?

Because coffees from different origins change throughout the year, and customers who love a particular Paradox blend expect that coffee to deliver a familiar experience each time they order it.

Planning ahead helps us secure the coffees we need and maintain greater consistency across our blends.

It's one of those parts of specialty coffee that most people never see, but it has a direct impact on what eventually lands in your cup.

Different Coffees for Different Tastes

No single flavour profile defines great coffee.

Some people love coffees with a heavier body and deeper flavours. Others look for something lighter, brighter and fruitier.

We want Paradox to offer both.

Our coffee range spans different roast profiles and flavour experiences, giving people the opportunity to find something that suits the way they actually enjoy drinking coffee.

Our green bean sourcing team isn't only looking for coffees that will become part of our core blends.

They're also selecting coffees for single origins, limited releases and specialty offerings throughout the year.

That gives us the freedom to showcase coffees with different origins, processing methods and flavour profiles as they become available.

It also means the specialty coffee experience at Broadbeach can keep evolving.

What you discover on one visit may be different from what's available the next.

Our Reserve Coffee Collection

Then there are the coffees we hold onto.

Throughout the year, we select particular coffees for our reserve collection. These coffees can be carefully portioned, stored and frozen so they can be prepared to order later.

We describe it as almost like a wine list for coffee.

Instead of being limited to what happens to be on the everyday menu, the reserve collection allows coffee drinkers to explore something distinctive that we've specifically selected and preserved.

It's a deeper way to experience specialty coffee and something we're particularly excited to offer at our Broadbeach cafe.

Coffee is a huge part of Paradox, but the Grayza conversation also touches on something equally important to our Broadbeach cafe: who the space is for.

Broadbeach changes throughout the day.

There are office workers looking for their morning coffee or somewhere to meet. Locals catching up after a walk. Visitors exploring the Gold Coast. Friends settling in for breakfast or brunch.

We wanted the cafe to feel comfortable for everyone.

That means being somewhere you can grab a takeaway coffee in a few minutes, but also somewhere you can meet, eat and stay a little longer.

Our seasonal all-day menu follows the same philosophy. Rather than defining the cafe around a handful of individual dishes, the menu can evolve throughout the year while still catering for breakfast, brunch and lunch in Broadbeach.

From Around the World to Broadbeach

There's a much bigger journey behind a cup of coffee than the few minutes you see at the coffee bar.

Before it reaches Broadbeach, decisions have already been made about where that coffee comes from, which producers and importers we work with, how much green coffee we need, where it fits within our range and how we want it to taste.
